The Rex Reed Foundation · Coming Soon
Honoring the Life and Legacy of Rex Reed
There has been an extraordinary outpouring of love, remembrance, and heartfelt messages following the passing of our dear friend, Rex Reed. In lieu of a traditional funeral or memorial service, we will be producing a special tribute celebration this autumn honoring Rex's remarkable life and legacy — very much in the spirit of the beautiful tribute Rex himself produced alongside Deborah Grace Winer and Michael Alden for his longtime friend Polly Bergen in 2015.
For more than six decades, Rex Reed stood as one of the most influential and recognizable voices in American cultural criticism. Through his work as a legendary movie critic, celebrity interviewer, author, and longtime member of the New York Film Critics Circle, he helped shape the national conversation around film, theater, entertainment, literature, and popular culture.
This tribute gathering will celebrate not only his extraordinary professional accomplishments, but also the wit, intellect, friendship, and generosity that so many of us were fortunate enough to experience personally. Friends, colleagues, artists, journalists, and loved ones will come together to honor a singular life that left an indelible mark on the worlds of media and the arts.
In addition, we are establishing The Rex Reed Foundation in his honor. The foundation will support initiatives across media, arts, entertainment, journalism, writing, educational programming, and the preservation of cultural storytelling, while also helping nurture future generations of creative voices and artists.
Additional details regarding the autumn celebration, foundation initiatives, and ways to participate will be shared in the coming months. Information regarding the upcoming launch of the foundation website, RexReedFoundation.org, will become available over the next several weeks.
We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming kindness, love, and support shown during this difficult time.
